framed limited edition michigan lighthouse book, lithographic print and round island poster
Framed Limited Edition

The book was first published in January 1994, and was sold out in November 1996. A second printing was completed in July 1998 and is again available for purchase directly from the author or at selected gift shops and book stores in Michigan.

A Limited Edition of 500 copies was completed of the first printing. Approximately 400 copies remain; they have never been advertised for sale or offered through book stores; they are available only from the author.

A Limited Edition of the book, Michigan Lighthouses: An Aerial Photographic Perspective, is available. The U. S. Postal Service Great Lakes Lighthouses Commemorative stamps are affixed to the title page (nine), and canceled “Day of First Issue” on June 17, 1995, from the Cheboygan, Michigan Post Office.

The 30"x40" limited edition print contains an aerial photograph of each of the five Great Lakes Lighthouses selected and commemorated by the U. S. Postal Service. Each image is approximately 10"x12" in size. The stamps, containing the serial number and perforation of the printing series, are affixed to the face of the print. The stamps are canceled “Day of First Issue” from the Cheboygan, Michigan Post Office on June 17, 1995. A cover from the stamp booklet is also mounted on those prints I mat and frame.

The First Day of Issue cancellation stamps were available only at the Cheboygan Post Office and valid for 30 days. They have since been destroyed. The limited edition books are available at $150. The unframed prints are also $150. The print framed, double matted with glass, is $445.

The books and lithographic prints are numbered, dated and signed by the author and pilot/photographer, John L. Wagner.

Round Island Lighthouse poster

The official Centennial poster, by Friends of the Round Island Lighthouse, Inc., commemorates the 100th Anniversary of the Round Island Lighthouse. Round Island, opposite to Mackinac Island, received special recognition when Jane Seymour and Christopher Reeves rowed to a romantic excursion at the lighthouse, in the movie, Somewhere In Time. This 22"x34" vertical poster combines a 15"x18" color aerial photograph with a 5"x7" black & white photo of the opening ceremony in 1896. Various framed versions—one with the U.S. Postal Service stamps canceled by the Mackinac Island Post Office—are also available and prices may be requested.

The cancellation stamp—an impression of the Round Island Lighthouse—was designed by Leo Kushel. One-half the proceeds from the poster sale revert to Friends of Round Island for maintenance and restoration of the lighthouse.

The poster is limited to one press run of approximately 2,500 copies. The price is $46 plus $4 for tax, shipping tube and postage.
